WELCOME TO UNDUGU EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMS

Welcome to UEP

Undugu Empowerment Programs (UEP) embodies the true spirit of undugu—swahili word for brotherhood and sisterhood rooted in shared humanity, collective responsibility, and dignity for all.

We are a community-driven nonprofit advancing health, education, and economic opportunity for girls, women, and youth in rural western Kenya. Grounded in compassion and powered by partnership, UEP delivers practical, scalable solutions that restore dignity, unlock potential, and build pathways to self-reliance. By working hand-in-hand with communities and partners, we turn solidarity into measurable impact and create sustainable change that lasts.

Agribusiness for Self-Reliance – Climate-Smart Youth

Growing resilience. Driving enterprise. Securing tomorrow.

This program empowers youth with climate-smart farming skills, agribusiness training, and market exposure. Through demonstration plots, greenhouse learning sites, and mentorship, UEP strengthens food security, boosts household incomes, and prepares young people for a modern agricultural economy.

Empowering girls. Ending stigma. Localizing solutions.

Sista Plus delivers a bold, community-driven response to period poverty through locally manufactured reusable pads at our GIRL PAD CENTRE and transformative menstrual health education. The program keeps girls in school, boosts confidence, and creates new income opportunities for women through dignified, sustainable production. Due to high pads demands, we supplement own produced eco-friendly pads and commercial pads to meet every girls needs.

Unlocking doors to higher learning and economic mobility.

UHEF supports bright but underserved students with scholarships, mentorship, and skills pathways that propel them into university, TVET programs, and meaningful careers. Each scholar becomes a long-term asset to their family, community, and the regional economy.

Rebuilding futures. Restoring dignity. Catalyzing independence.

Hope for Teen Mothers equips young mothers with vocational skills, ICT training, psycho-social support, and structured academia reintegration opportunities. With hands-on coaching and childcare provision, the program transforms vulnerability into confidence, leadership, and sustainable income pathways.

Founder's Message

A Call to Build Dignity, Opportunity & Hope Together

Dear Friends,

To truly serve one’s community is the greatest privilege. Our journey has been humbling, challenging, and profoundly transformative. It fuels an unwavering drive to create meaningful change to those who have been systematically underserved. As a nurse, my calling has always extended beyond the hospital walls—into the homes, schools, and villages where healing begins.

During the pandemic, in 2022, we launched Undugu Empowerment Programs (UEP) to confront the deep barriers of poverty through our integrated pillars: menstrual dignity, education access, teen-mother empowerment, and climate-smart agribusiness. What began as a heartfelt vision has grown into a powerful force for change. Bringing tangible support, voice, and hope to underserved communities across rural communities in Kenya. Today, my promise remains firm: to help shape a world where women, adolescent girls, and youth can live dignified, healthy, and opportunity-filled lives. In many ways, this work continues my lifelong commitment to healing beyond the hospital walls. Strengthening communities and empowering individuals before they lose hope. At UEP, we envision a future where every person, regardless of geography, income, or circumstance, has the chance to be self-sufficient and thrive. Transforming a community is much like tending a garden; it requires patience, resources, and the shared commitment of people who care deeply about justice and possibility.

You are an essential part of that commitment. Your partnership, encouragement, and belief in our mission provide the fertile ground for real transformation. Join us as we advance this vital work. Together, we can build a healthier, more equitable world—one girl, one mother, one family, and one community at a time.

Warmly,

Immaculate Wesonga
